Spirulina Berry Energy Smoothie
A vibrant, antioxidant-rich berry smoothie — with MM Cape Town spirulina powder.
🫐
Frozen berries and banana hide spirulina’s strong flavour behind a sweet, fruity blend. A quick pick-me-up that looks as good as it tastes.
Tip: A little lemon or orange juice brightens the flavour and takes the “ocean” edge off the spirulina.
Ingredients (2 glasses)
- 1 cup mixed frozen berries (blueberry, strawberry, raspberry)
- 1 frozen banana
- ½ tsp MM Cape Town Spirulina Powder
- 1 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
- Juice of ½ orange
- 1 tbsp oats or Greek yoghurt (optional, for body)
Method
- Pour the milk and orange juice into the blender.
- Add berries, banana and spirulina powder.
- Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until smooth.
- Add oats or yoghurt if you want it thicker, and blend again briefly.
- Pour and serve cold.
Blend your boost with MM Cape Town.
Why does it taste strong?
Spirulina is potent. Berries and citrus balance it — start with ¼ tsp and increase as you get used to it.
Can I use fresh berries?
Yes, but frozen gives a thicker, colder smoothie. Add a few ice cubes if using fresh.
Is it vegan?
Yes, with plant milk and no yoghurt (or a plant-based yoghurt).
